SafetyNet is the online reporting system for incident/hazards, safe work procedures, risk assessments and inspection checklists at the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵapp.

Welcome to the new look SafetyNet!

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the new layout. The steps for completing reports are very similar, but there are minor changes to submitting reports that users should be aware of. If you get stuck, we have instructional videos and step by step user guides available to help assist, or you can contact us directly at whs-admin@uow.edu.au or 4221 3931.

Confidential Incident/Hazard Reports

When to tick "Confidential" when reporting a Hazard/Incident?

• When you are reporting something that involves your direct line manager.

All Incident/Hazard reports are secured and only visible to the person reporting, their line manager, any person responsible for a corrective action and the Wellbeing and Safety Unit (WSU).

Clicking "Confidential" only bypasses your line manger.

Confidential reports are assessed by the Associate Director WSU or approved delegate.

SafetyNet can be used to:

• Report incidents/hazards
• Complete risk assessments and safe work procedures
• Record workplace inspections (Checklists under Audits tab)

Remember that if the incident involves anything to do with a building, structure, or grounds, to also inform the Infrastructure and Property Division (IPD). This can be done by either calling the IPD Reception Team on 4221 3217, or by logging an ticket.
If you are unsure who to assign a Corrective Action in a report to within the IPD Team, please contact IPD Reception for advice (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM) or UOW Security (24hrs).

SafetyNet User Guides

SafetyNet has recently undergone an upgrade and although the layout is new, the process of logging reports is very similar. However it does have differing approval processes. To help users navigate this new process we have created a series of SafetyNet User Guides to help guide users through the process of completing, saving and submitting a report.

Your privacy is important to us. This privacy notice outlines how UOW manages your personal information (which includes health information) in SafetyNet. By using SafetyNet, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Notice.

Information we collect

When you log a SafetyNet report, you will be asked to provide personal information which may include your name and UOW email address. Depending on the nature of the hazard or incident, other personal information may also be collected from you.

How we use your information

The information collected in SafetyNet is used to ensure that all identified hazards can be brought to the attention of your supervisor and/or the WSU personnel for appropriate action. The WSU will conduct an assessment of the hazards and take steps to eliminate or minimise any health and safety risks to an acceptable level.

Sharing your information

Once a SafetyNet Report is submitted, a copy will be automatically sent to your nominated supervisor unless it is market ‘Confidential’.

Some reports may be referred by the WSU to specialist units across UOW so that they can be managed by staff with the appropriate subject matter expertise. For example, matters relating to building hazards will be referred to the Infrastructure and Property Division. Matters relating to psychosocial hazards will be referred to the People and Culture Division or the Safe and Respectful Communities Unit.

In some instances, the report may need to be shared externally with agencies such as SafeWork NSW due to reporting requirements according to the WHS Act 2011.

Security of your information

The SafetyNet portal is stored on a private cloud instance accessible only to the UOW network and information submitted in SafetyNet is protected by user access controls.
