The Bachelor of Computer Science gives you the knowledge and skills to become part of this rapidly evolving field. You don't need prior coding experience to get started. In your first year, you'll study alongside students from Information Technology and Business Information Systems, giving you the opportunity to explore different technology disciplines before choosing a major. You can also choose a broader study pathway, developing advanced computer science knowledge and professional skills without specialising in a specific area.

You'll develop a strong understanding of how computers, software and digital systems work while learning how to apply computing theory to practical challenges. Your studies span programming, web technologies, data management, networks and communications, systems analysis, human-computer interaction and project management, giving you the foundation to design and develop technology solutions across a range of applications.
As your skills grow, you'll learn how to design algorithms, develop software, evaluate computer-based systems and apply industry-relevant tools and practices. Throughout the degree, you'll work on collaborative projects that strengthen your ability to communicate with stakeholders, contribute to teams and deliver technology solutions from planning through to implementation.
In your final year, you'll complete a capstone project that brings together learning from across your degree. Working as part of a team, you'll engage with a client or stakeholder and take a project from concept to delivery, gaining experience across the software development lifecycle. You'll also have opportunities to present your work at the School of Computing and Information Technologies annual autumn TechExpo, where final-year students showcase projects to academics, alumni and industry representatives.
