Interested in technology but not sure where you want it to take you? The Bachelor of Information Technology gives you the flexibility to explore different areas of IT while building a strong foundation in the technologies that power modern organisations.鈥�
You’ll study the full IT lifecycle, including programming, data management, systems analysis and design, networks and communications, cyber security, web technologies, project management and professional practice. Unlike Computer Science, which focuses more heavily on software development and algorithms, Information Technology focuses on how technology is designed, managed and applied to solve practical problems.鈥�
You don’t need to arrive as an expert programmer. The course is designed to progressively build your technical capability while helping you discover where your interests lie.鈥�
Choose from majors in Network Design and Management or Web Design and Development, or follow a broader advanced IT pathway. Graduates are prepared for careers across software, systems, cyber security, networking, cloud computing, consulting and web development, and graduate with an Australian Computer Society accredited qualification.鈥�

Technology is constantly evolving, so the ability to adapt, solve problems and apply technical knowledge is just as important as learning specific tools. Throughout the degree, you’ll work on practical projects that help you build these capabilities across a range of technology disciplines.
You might develop machine learning models to tackle challenges such as spam email detection, sentiment analysis or house price prediction. Other projects explore intelligent systems and advanced problem-solving, including autonomous technology simulations, image-recognition applications and optimisation challenges involving large datasets and interconnected systems. These experiences help you apply theory in realistic scenarios while developing programming, analytical and problem-solving skills.
In your final year, you’ll complete a team capstone project based on a workplace brief inspired by industry or provided directly by an industry partner. This experience brings together the technical, project management and communication skills developed throughout the degree while giving you experience working on a problem with real-world relevance. Previous industry-connected projects have involved organisations including Whale Logistics, Devika 榴莲视频app and Micromax.
The degree also offers flexibility throughout your studies. You’ll complete foundational subjects shared with students from Computer Science and Business Information Systems before choosing a direction that aligns with your interests. You can specialise through the Network Design and Management or Web Design and Development majors, or follow a no-major pathway and build expertise across multiple areas of IT.
