UEC and its sub-committees: Student representation

The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp Education Committee (UEC) is a subcommittee of Academic Senate. The Academic Integrity Advisory Group is an advisory group that reports to the Education Policy and Quality Committee (EPAQ) which is a subcommittee of UEC. Each committee meets between 4 and 5 times per year.
Being on a committee/working group will not only contribute to the development of your university education; you will receive induction and training in the committee process and develop a range of skills as you participate in discussion and negotiation around committee business. These are all valuable skills for life and for future employment.

The goal of UEC to is provide leadership to achieve the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp's objectives in learning and teaching.
Academic Integrity Advisory Group
The Academic Integrity Advisory Group provides advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Student Life), the Director Academic Quality and Standards and to relevant academic governance bodies as appropriate, with particular responsibility for advising on how best to promote a culture of academic integrity across the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp and providing strategic direction to the Office of Academic Integrity.
Selection process
- The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp conducts a routine recruitment process which aims to establish a pool of students interested in serving on UEC and its subcommittees.
- Each committee has its own requirements about the number of students required and the demographics of the students (international/domestic and/or undergraduate/postgraduate).
- Students will be interviewed by nominees from the Academic Quality and Standards Unit. Rather than a formal structured process, the interview is an informal discussion around the objectives of the committee and how well they fit with your own interests and abilities.
- Selected students are typically asked to serve on the committee for up to two years. Exceptions may be considered in some cases and can be discussed during your interview.
Selection criteria
- Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or postgraduate UOW student.
- Must be interested in providing a student voice on the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp’s peak teaching and learning committee and/or its subcommittees.
- Must show dedication and commitment, with an ability to attend committee meetings.
- Must have a keen interest in the governance processes that underpin changes to the learning and teaching environment at the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp, and ideas that could help shape the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµapp’s education landscape.
