Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP)

The Indigenous Admission Program (IAP) is an assessment process that offers an alternative pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 17, to seek entry into UOW’s undergraduate programs.

Assessments can be conducted remotely, so access to a computer and internet is required. Please contact us if access is an issue.

The Indigenous Admission Program welcomes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who:

Haven鈥檛 completed secondary school
Are not receiving an ATAR
Are receiving an ATAR
Don't have the required ATAR for their preferred course
Mature aged students

Direct entry

After successfully completing IAP, students may be offered direct entry into their chosen course.

UOW College

Those who do not receive direct entry may be offered a place in one of UOW College's courses or pathway programs:

Successful completion of courses and program provides guaranteed entry to the majority of UOW undergraduate degrees.

IAP assessment process

1. Pre-screening phone interview

To determine your readiness to commence 榴莲视频app and understand your preferred course of study.

2. Career consultation

To ensure your chosen course matches your interests and career goals

3. Online academic assessments

To assess your ability to perform well in your preferred course of study. Online literacy and numeracy assessments can be completed from the comfort of your own home.

4. Zoom faculty interviews

Interview with faculty representatives to determine your suitability.

5. Strengths and needs assessment

To identify individual strengths and needs and map your support plan appropriately.

Applicants are required to submit the following supporting documentation:

Confirmation of Aboriginality: By a letter with a common seal signed by the chairperson of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander incorporated organisation in which the applicant lives or has previously lived, e.g. lands council or Aboriginal cultural centre. Woolyungah Indigenous centre understands that sometimes obtaining an official confirmation of Aboriginality can be challenging. Therefore, we accept our signed by a Justice of Peace. This is a legal binding document demonstrating your self- identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. The statutory declaration must be accompanied by evidence of your claim.
Personal statement: A one-page personal statement outlining why you would like to study your nominated course and your educational aspirations
A current resume
Other supporting documentation: Recent school reports, TAFE transcripts, certificates of previous qualifications, and references from previous employers.

Please note: Creative Arts and Performing Arts applicants are required to submit an additional application form and prepare a portfolio of material relevant to their proposed major, for review in the interview.
