About Early Admission

UOW Early Admission is our early offer program for students finishing Year 12 in 2026 (HSC or other Australian equivalents).

Instead of relying solely on your final year 12 results, we consider your Year 11 performance as well as your skills, and experiences; giving you the chance to secure a place in the right degree at UOW before your final exams even begin.

To be eligible to apply, you must be:

  • in Year 12 in 2026;
  • completing an Australian senior secondary qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or interstate equivalent) in Australia or outside Australia, or the IB Diploma in Australia; and
  • be eligible to be awarded the Higher School Certificate, the IB Diploma or an interstate equivalent.

Students in their final year of HSC Pathways are also eligible to apply.

You are a Year 12 applicant if you:

  • are completing a Year 12 qualification in 2026
  • are completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia in 2026.

An Australian Year 12 qualification includes:

  • ACT – ACT Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12)
  • NSW – Higher School Certificate (HSC)
  • NT – Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET)
  • QLD – Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) (except Queensland Year 12 external students)

  6. Review and Submit: Review your application, read the Early Admission program conditions, then submit. You can edit any part of your application after you submit it; if you do make sure to submit it again after making any changes.

One of the first things you'll do when you start your application is enter your email address. We will send a verification email to that email address before you can proceed; so make sure you enter a correct email address that you have access to. Be sure to double-check that your email is spelled correctly. If your email is entered incorrectly, you may have issues accessing information and receiving communications about your Early Admission application.

It is important that you use a personal email address when setting up your Early Admission application. Please do not use your school email address, as your school may cancel this address after you graduate. We will need to contact you after you leave school.

A common mistake is ‘gamil.com’, or ‘gmail.com.au’ when it needs to be ‘gmail.com’.

Please also provide your own mobile number in the contact details section. UOW may need to contact you during various stages of the application process. Being able to contact you directly and in a timely manner helps us to help you get all the information you need during the Early Admission process. â¶Ä¯

If you don’t have your own personal mobile you can input the mobile phone number of your parent or caregiver as the next best contact. If you provide contact details of someone other than yourself, we won’t disclose any information about you or your application to them unless you have nominated them in the third-party consent section of your application, which will be under the ‘About Yourself’ heading.

UAC relies on data from each state’s education authority to process your application.

  • Students from NSW, ACT and Tasmania can apply from Monday 15 June 2026
  • Students from Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory or Western Australia will be able to apply from July, 2025 - we will publish the exact date asap..

In the meantime, why not start drafting your application responses? Read our seven tips to complete your application to see what you need to prepare.

If you are from NSW, ACT, TAS, VIC, or WA and are having issues, please contact the .

If you are unable to login to complete your application, and use the 'forgotten your password', or 'forgotten your username' links. Follow the prompts and the system will send you information on how to reset your username or password. This email will not be immediate, so be patient, and remember to check your junk mail.

If you don't receive the email within an hour, you may have entered your email address incorrectly when you first started your application. In this case, please contact the . â¶Ä¯

Remember that Early Admission applications close at 5pm on Friday, 7 August, 2026, so be sure to contact UAC in plenty of time.

This will happen if your response is too long or too short. Each response must include at least 100 characters (including spaces) and a maximum of 500 characters (including spaces). Anything under 100 characters won't be allowed, and the system will 'cut you off' after your 500th character. The boxes in which you'll enter each response have the number '500' next to it; it will count down as you start typing.

(To give you an idea, the paragraph above ⇑ is 410 characters including spaces).

Sometimes copying/pasting from word-processing programs brings over extra formatting that takes up room in the application system. It is definitely a good idea to draft your responses in Word/Pages etc, you should type them into your application to avoid any issues with formatting, and character counts.

Remember, applications close on Friday 7 August at 5pm. UOW Will not accept applications or submissions of any content after that time.

Yes.

You can edit your Early Admission application by logging into the application portal until 5pm, Friday 7 August.

Supplying this information allows your Early Admission application to be pre-populated with details such as your Year 11 results, which will simplify the application process, and you will not need to provide anything else.

If your final year of schooling is based on curriculum other than NSW HSC or ACT Year 12, or you are completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, you will need to upload your results using a provided template. These templates will be on this website after Early Admission opens on 15 June.

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is your individual education number for life. It is allocated and administered by the Australian Government, not universities.

Setting up a USI is free, will only take about 10 minutes and will last you forever!

Head to for more information.

You can select up to two UOW courses in your Early Admission application. All UOW undergraduate degrees are available through Early Admission. Double degrees are considered a single preference.

You should research our courses and find the right one/s before entering them in your application. To do this, use the UOW Course Finder Tool.

If you can't find your preferred course in the Early Admission system, it may be because you're searching for a major or specialisation within that degree.

Selecting your major or specialisation typically happens during enrolment or even later in your studies.

For instance, the UOW Bachelor of Arts program at UOW offers 12 majors. However, when applying, you only need to select the Bachelor of Arts. If you receive an offer for the degree, you will choose your major when you enrol.

This also applies to other degrees like Business, Engineering, Science etc.

UOW offers two Bachelor of Science degrees, each with different majors and entry requirements.

The Bachelor of Science (SMAH) offers majors in Cell & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, and Ecology & Conservation Biology.

The Bachelor of Science (EIS) offers majors in Medical & Radiation Physics, Nuclear & Space Technology, and Physics.

When applying, make sure you select the degree that aligns with your area of interest, as each degree offers different majors and may have different admission requirements.

The UOW Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation is included in the Early Admission program, so you only need to submit one Early Admission application.

There is no separate application form or essay required in 2026 to apply for the degree. Once you have applied for the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation through Early Admission, UOW will contact you with information about the next steps to be considered for the Ramsay Scholarship, valued at $20,000 per year for up to three years, with additional support of up to $12,000 available for eligible regional and remote students.

As part of your Early Admission application, you will need to respond to the following questions in writing. You will have 500 characters for each question – including spaces.

  • Academic Readiness: What are your study strategies when preparing for an important assessment task?
  • Motivation and Passion: What has influenced your decision to pursue your course or courses of interest?
  • Communication and Collaboration: Describe a time when you worked with others to achieve a goal.
  • Planning and Persistence: Tell us about a time when you set yourself a goal and worked hard to achieve a good result?

Having some examples ready will help you get started on your answers when Early Admission opens and to prepare you can start thinking about:

  • accomplishments that you are most proud of,
  • teams or social groups you have been a part of,
  • what career you hope to have and why; and
  • any personal goals that you have set for yourself, either academically or in your extracurricular activities.
